Facilities & Overview:-
The University of Winnipeg received its charter in 1967 but its roots date back more than 145 years. The founding colleges were Manitoba College (1871), and Wesley College (1888), which merged to form United College in 1938. In 2017 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our University Charter.
UWinnipeg is noted for academic excellence, Indigenous scholarship, environmental commitment, small class sizes and campus diversity. UWinnipeg also offers a number of unique Master degree programs. UWinnipeg is committed to improving access to post-secondary education for all individuals, especially those from non-traditional communities, and has created an innovative Opportunity Fund to assist students who are under-represented attend UWinnipeg. In the past decade, UWinnipeg has expanded its campus by 35% and student enrolment has increased by more than 50%.

We offer high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs including several that are unique in Western Canada, for example, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights, and a Master’s degree in Development Practice with a focus on Indigenous Development. The Richardson College for the Environment & Science Complex accommodates over 2,000 students, faculty, staff and visitors daily. As one of the most innovative Science Complexes in Canada, our renowned professors, graduate and undergraduate students are researching and studying the most challenging issues we face: climate change, isotope productions and cancer tests, and pollutants in our air and lakes. Our state-of-the-art Axworthy Health and RecPlex offers new research and student practicum opportunities in kinesiology, education and applied health. The RecPlex offers sports and recreation programs for students, Wesmen athletes and the broader community.

The University of Winnipeg Students' Association (UWSA)-
The UWSA is an student elected organization on campus that represents over 10 000 students. We provide services such as the Bike Lab, dayplanners, and Soma Café, advocate for students to the UW administration and all levels of government, as well as throw events throughout the year.
