- Curtin is one of only two Western Australian universities to rank in the prestigious Shanghai Jiao Tong Annual Ranking of World Universities (2011).
- Curtin is one of only two Western Australian universities to rank in the Times Higher Education's 2011-2012 world university rankings.
- The 2012 Quacuarelli Symonds World Universities Ranking by Subject have listed Curtin among the top 200 universities in the world across nine categories, up from five in 2011.
- Curtin was named among the top 100 institutions in Chemical Engineering; Earth and Marine Sciences; Statistics and Operational Research; Education; and Accounting and Finance.
- Curtin also ranked in the top 150 institutions for Civil Engineering, and among the top 200 institutions in Computer Science; Pharmacy and Pharmacology; and Communications and Media Studies.
In December 1986 the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) was formally made a university, taking its name from the influential and widely-revered former Prime Minister of Australia, John Curtin.
Curtin's MBA program received five stars from the Good Universities Guide 2012 for its corporate links and staff academic qualifications, and four stars for size of management facility and chances of getting a job.
Curtin was rated amongst the best in Australia for our research in the areas of Earth Sciences, Geology, Curriculum and Pedagogy and Analytical Chemistry. They were rated amongst the best in WA for a further 24 research areas (Excellence in Research for Australia National Report 2010)
Curtin is a university with a global outlook. They have well established campuses in Singapore and Sarawak, Malaysia. Curtin has more than 46,000 students studying all over the world.
