Morningside College faculty typically teach five 4-credit courses per academic year to fulfill a 20-hour load and one May Term course every three years. Excellence in teaching, effective advising, scholarship, and service are expected for all faculty members.
At Morningside College, we provide an outstanding academic environment. Our academic majors offer you in-depth experiences and detailed knowledge within a discipline. The courses you select outside of your major add a breadth of knowledge and enable you to understand important issues from multiple perspectives. Your selected major and other courses will enhance the skills you need to gain employment within your chosen field or prepare you for further professional or graduate study. Your major will sharpen your abilities to communicate effectively, think critically, problem solve efficiently and ethically, and work well with others. These are exactly the things that employers tell us they want college graduates to be able to do.
With more than 50 organizations on campus, it’s easy to get involved and become a leader at Morningside. You could join the choir, a co-ed volleyball team, the climbing club or the mock trial team. You could start your own radio show, or you could run for student government. There also are organizations in different academic departments, such as the Morningside Student Nurses Association, Iowa State Education Association, Undergraduate Psychological Association or Math Club. Maybe you will start a new group on campus. Students do it all the time.
