Overview

University Canada West is a contemporary independent university located in the heart of vibrant Vancouver.

 

Established in 2004, UCW offers a range of career-focused programs including the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication and Master of Business Administration. Courses are offered at our downtown Vancouver campus and online too. Scholarships & Bursaries

University Canada West (UCW) scholarships are available to students applying for an undergraduate or graduate program. You can only apply for ONE scholarship, so we recommend that you read carefully through the details of each option.

 

The amount you receive for your scholarship is deducted annually from your tuition fees on a pro rata basis throughout your time studying with UCW.

 

Award recipients will be expected to act as ambassadors for UCW and participate in outreach and alumni engagement initiatives in their home region once awarded.

 

University Canada West Founderís Scholarship

 

Programs applicable: Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication

Open to: Recent high school graduates who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents

 

The UCW Founderís Scholarship offers up to 20 full-time undergraduate tuition scholarships; currently valued at $25,440 each. Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded to successful students in each of the Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication degree programs. Scholarship students are required to enroll in a minimum of 10 courses a year and will be responsible for paying regular student fees and purchasing textbooks.

 

Interested candidates must complete the UCW Founderís Scholarship application form and submit a 500 word statement that outlines their career aspirations, ways in which they plan to positively impact their community, and how an education at UCW will help them to achieve these goals. A letter of recommendation from an educator or influential community member is also required. Students may be contacted by UCW for an interview upon application review.

 

Eligibility

 

To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must meet these requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or hold permanent residency status at the time of application;
  • Be a recent high school graduate, or have graduated from high school within the last 12 months;
  • Hold a minimum of an ďAĒ average; and
  • Submit a complete application with required documents by May 31, 2016.

 

Continuance

 

Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.2 (75%) throughout their studies.

 

Applications for UCWís Founderís Scholarship will be accepted from December 1, 2015 to May 31, 2016 and successful candidates may begin their studies in January, April, July or September 2016.

 

International Student Leaders Award

 

Programs applicable: MBA, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication(On-campus and Online)

Open to: International applicants from countries outside the USA, Canada, and EU. Only International students are eligible.

 

This award is for students who are dedicated to improving their home countryís economic development.

 

Applicants should write a Personal Statement describing how receiving an award for their program of choice will affect their personal, educational, and career goals, how they intend to use their skills to contribute to the growth of their home country, and what obstacles they may face.

 

The award tier will be dependent on the strength of your application and personal statement.

Scholarships for Academic Excellence

 

Programs applicable: MBA, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication (On-campus and Online)

Open to: Domestic (Canadian) and international students

 

This scholarship is aimed at students with excellent academic grades who wish to go on to excel in their chosen field of work. They should demonstrate leadership potential in a business environment, both through their exceptional academic merit and with an established track record of excellence in their chosen career.

 

Continuance:

 

Scholarship recipients of the Undergraduate award must maintain a GPA of 2.67 to remain eligible for the second and subsequent award.

 

Scholarship recipients of the Graduate awards must maintain a GPA of 3.0 to remain eligible for the second and subsequent award payments.

The MBA Foundation Study Grant is subject to full payment of the MBA Foundation course fee and issued as a credit towards payment of the last course credits of the MBA program.

The Emily Baker Scholarship

 

Programs applicable: MBA (On-campus and Online)

Open to: First Nations students in Canada

 

This award is for First Nation students who are dedicated to pursuing and fulfilling their higher education and business goals.

 

Applicants should write a Personal Statement describing how receiving an award for the MBA program will affect their personal, educational, and career goals, how they intend to use their skills to contribute to the growth and development of the First Nations community.
